Cameroon has cancelled celebrations marking this year’s National Day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A statement by a state minister Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh said President Paul Biya had called off all official ceremonies to commemorate the day that is 20th of May. The president asked Cameroonians to observe measures to limit the spread of COVID during the national holiday as well as during the Eid celebrations.
He said, COVID was a tragic reality despite the country’s commendable performance in the fight against the pandemic. State-run TV channel shared the news on Twitter.
