At least five people have died while 16 other people have been hospitalised after consuming liquor in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The hooch tragedy was reported from Bulandshahr region in the state. Following the incident, three police personnel including the station incharge were suspended from their services, SSP Bulandshahr informed. In the wake of the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered strict action against the culprit and the distillery.
Uttar Pradesh Government has suspended four Excise Police personnel including one Excise Inspector. Departmental action has been initiated against Joint Excise Commissioner, Meerut zone Deputy Excise Commissioner and District Excise Officer of Bulandshahar.
All the three have been attached to the headquarters Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked to take stern action against the culprits who are involved in the tragedy in Bulandshahar district. Chief Minister has directed to invoke National Security Act and Gangster Act against the culprits.
He has also directed to take strong action against the distillery is in question after the hooch tragedy.
Meanwhile, Police have unearthed a big bootlegging network in Muzaffarnagar district in western Uttar Pradesh and arrested 13 persons. A huge cache of 24 thousand litres of illicit liquor was recovered from the spot.
