The budget session of Kerala Assembly began today with the address of Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan. In his policy address, Governor elaborated the welfare activities and development schemes implemented by the State Government.

Mr Arif Khan said that, though the pandemic created a difficult economic scenario in the State, the Government has lived up to its promise that no one shall go hungry during the lockdown period.

He added that free treatment for Covid -19 and essential commodity kits to all ration card holders have been ensured by the Kerala Government during the entire pandemic period.

The Governor stated that the Kerala government has managed to create 50,000 job opportunities as part of its 100-day programme. State government also increased welfare pensions from Rs 600 to Rs 1500. The work done by Kerala Government has received national and international recognition, Governor added.

Meanwhile the Congress-led opposition members boycotted the session raising slogans against the Chief Minister and Speaker, accusing of corruption. The State Budget will be presented on 15th January.
