Ace Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the Denmark Open 2020 badminton tournament after a 22-20 13-21 16-21 defeat to Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the men’s singles quarterfinals in Odense, Denmark last night.
World No-2 Taipei Player came back after losing the first game and took the next two to win the match in one hour and two minutes and storm into the semifinals.
With it, the challenge of the Indians in the Denmark Open came to an end. Compatriots Lakshya Sen bowed out in the second round while Ajay Jayaram and Subhankar Dey exited early in the first round.
Lakshya Sen had lost on Thursday to the local challenge of Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus in 55 minutes, when he went down 21-15, 7-21, 17-21.
This is Kidambi Srikanth’s first tournament since his first-round exit at the All England Open in March. The Indian shuttler had beaten England’s Toby Penty in straight games in his Denmark Open opener on Wednesday.
