Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ITBP S. S. Deswal visited ITBP Border Out Posts of Eastern Ladakh and met the brave jawans of the force deployed there.

He awarded them the DG Commendation Rolls and Discs for their gallant actions during the face offs and border skirmishes in the border areas that took place in May and June, this year in Eastern Ladakh.

Total 291 ITBP jawans including 3 Deputy Inspectors General were honoured by the Force Chief in his one week visit to respective locations.

The efforts of the field commanders and the jawans were highly appreciated by DG, ITBP. In the Sainik Sammelans held during the award, he praised the jawans for their courage under challenges and adverse conditions.

The DG was on a visit to the Border Out Posts located on the borders of Ladakh last week. He went to meet the ITBP personnel deployed to safeguard the borders.

The DG reached out to most of the high altitude BOPs through land route; at some places by crossing 17, 500 feet.

The visit was primarily by road involving 10 to 12 hours travels every day for about 6 days. The DG spent 6 nights at the Border Out Posts.

During his visit to forward locations, the DG ITBP interacted and discussed with Field Commanders of ITBP and Army on various issues.

The DG appreciated ITBP jawans for their gallant act displayed on the borders.

He praised ITBP troops for their bravery which they exhibited at the time of need despite many terrains, weather and other difficult conditions and standing shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army.
