8,324 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday in Karnataka, taking the total case load to 3,27,076. There are 86,446 active patients taking treatment in various hospitals in the State.
During the same time yesterday 8,110 people recovered and discharged from the hospitals. The total number of recovered patients have gone up to 2,35,128. 115 covid patients lost their life and the total fatalities increased to 5,483. A record 72,684 covid tests were conducted in the State yesterday adding which the total number of tests conducted so far have gone up to 27,85,718.
Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar has said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India could contain the mortality rate to 1.7 percent as compared to developed countries where the rate stood at 4 percent. He said efforts are being made to reduce the rate further to below one percent in the country. Meanwhile, five volunteers were inoculated with Covishield vaccine at JSS Hospital in Mysuru yesterday, marking the start of clinical trials in Karnataka of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
