As many as 30 out of 33 districts are affected by locust attacks vin Rajasthan. About 2,10,000 hectares have been affected due to locust attacks so far. Locust control activities have been carried out in about 1 lakh 90 thousand hectare area.Drones are being used for locust control activities for the first time.
Locust Warning Organization and agriculture department have deployed many teams for conducting survey and locust control work. The state government has deployed more than 2,000 tractors and 46 fire brigade vehicles for locust control activities. Control room has also been established in all district headquarters.
The deployment of 12 drones has been started in a phased manner in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Nagaur, and Phalodi of Jodhpur district. Meanwhile, the state government has directed for special Girdawari in Barmer, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Nagaur districts to assess damage of crops caused by locust attacks.
