In its bid to contain the spread of coronavirus, Spain has banned funeral ceremonies, including vigils at home till April 11, and decreed that no more than three people could attend burials. The country has been struggling with thousands of fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic.

The new measures also urges people to maintain a social distancing of one to two metres.

Spain has listed 7,340 deaths from COVID-19, the second highest toll in the world after Italy. The number of confirmed cases in Spain has now reached 85,195.

Spain has imposed the strictest confinement measures in Europe.
