Delhi Police has said that the situation is under control in the violence hit North-Eastern part of the city. The death toll in the violence has gone up to 13.
Security personnel today held flag march in Babarpur, Johripur and Maujpur. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) S N Shrivastava and Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Satish Golcha today inspected the Jafrabad area.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met top Delhi police personnel at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) late last night and reviewed the situation. Mr Doval accompanied by senior police officials and visited areas affected by violence in North-East Delhi.
Government Sources said, the National Security Adviser has made it clear that lawlessness would not be allowed to remain in the national capital and adequate number of police forces and paramilitary forces have been deployed. The police have been given a free hand to bring the situation under control.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, the situation is alarming and police despite all its efforts is unable to control situation and instill confidence. He said, Army should be called in and curfew imposed in rest of affected areas immediately. Mr Kejriwal said, he is writing to Home Minister to this effect.
