The situation remains grim in several districts of Karnataka ravaged by heavy rainfall and flood. The state has requested Airforce to deploy one more chopper in addition to two operating in the state to airlift people out of flooded areas. Five additional teams of NDRF too arrived and were deployed in Belagavi today.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa visited Nippani in Karnataka-Maharashtra border and spoke to people displaced by the flood. He asked Health department officials to ensure sufficient medicines and other medical facilities to meet any exigencies.

Many philanthropists and social workers have come forward to extend helping hand to the victims of rain and flood. The State Government employees have come forward to donate their one day salary to CM relief fund, the corporators of Bengaluru Municipal corporation will donate their one-month remuneration.

Infosys foundation donated 10 crore rupees today. Various organisations collected blankets, medicines, asbestos sheets and kitchen utensils today to send to the people who have lost their belongings.
