CHESTER-LE-STREET: Jonny Bairstow´s second successive hundred laid the foundation for England´s 119-run thrashing of New Zealand that saw the tournament hosts secure their place in the semi-finals of the World Cup on Wednesday.

Inthe ICC World Cup, England reached semifinals today after defeating New Zealandby 119 runs at Chester-Le-Street today. New Zealand team was all out at 186runs in 45 overs.  England entered the World Cup semifinals for the firsttime since the 1992 edition. 

From England side MarkWood took 3 wickets in 9 overs. Earlier, electing to bat first, England scored305 for 8 in the stipulated 50 overs.

 J M Bairstow topscored with 106 off 99 balls, became the first Englishman to score back-to-backhundreds in a World Cup. For New Zealand, Trent Boult, M J Henry and Neeshamscalped 2 wickets each. 

 
Tomorrow, Afghanistan take on West Indies at Leeds at 3 p.m.  Havingbooked their semi-final spot yesterday after defeating Bangladesh atBirmingham, India play their last league match on Saturday when they take onSri Lanka at Leeds.
