Over 63 per cent polling has been recorded in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections today. Fifty-nine constituencies, spread over seven states, went to polls in this phase. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said people came out in large numbers to vote including women and senior citizens. He said, out of 543 Lok Sabha constituency, polls have been concluded in 483 constituencies till today.
West Bengal recorded over 80 per cent voter turnout while Jharkhand 65.17 per cent. Madhya Pradesh registered over 60 per cent till 5 PM and Haryana 62.91 per cent. National Capital Delhi recorded 59.8 per cent voting till 6 in the evening while in Bihar it was 59.38 per cent. In Uttar Pradesh, voter turnout was 54.12 per cent.
The poll body informed that there was lowest EVM replacement in the 6th phase of voting today.
