Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that the state government will not take up the issue of Permanent Resident Certificate in view of the sentiments of the people.

He appealed to the people to maintain peace and allow normal life to continue in the state capital. He informed that ex-gratia has been announced for those killed during the protests.

An all-party meeting is underway in Itanagar to discuss the PRC issue today. The State government will also hold a meeting with all the Community Based Organizations later to clarify its stand on the issue.

Meanwhile, curfew in Itanagar has been extended till Wednesday morning in view of the law and order situation. The curfew was imposed on Saturday after violence erupted over issue of Permanent resident Certificate to non-Arunachal Pradesh ST residents of Namsai and Changlang districts.
