AMN / NEW DELHI

The Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute in Ayodhya will not be taken up for hearing by the Supreme Court on January 29th. Due to non-availability of Justice S.A. Bobde, the hearing, for now, has been deferred indefinitely. No new date for the hearing has been decided yet.

This comes just days after a new five-judge Constitution Bench was constituted in the apex court to hear the Ayodhya land title dispute. Headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the bench now includes Justices Ashok Bhushan and Abdul Nazeer, apart from Justices S.A. Bobde and D.Y. Chandrachud.

The land title dispute was earlier postponed from January 10 after Justice U.U. Lalit recused himself from hearing the case.
