Eight Maoists were killed and two security personnel martyred in an encounter in Sukma district today. According to media reports Maoists attacked a team of District Reserve Guard, (DRG) when it was on a search operation near Sakler in Kistaram area. Security forces retaliated the fire and eight Maoists were killed.
Two jawans of DRG were also killed in the encounter. Security forces recovered the bodies of the rebels along with a large number of weapons from the spot.
