Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan led parliamentarians in paying floral tributes at the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in the Central Hall of Parliament House on his birth anniversary today.

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh; Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad; Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs & Statistics and Programme Implementation Vijay Goel; Chairperson of Public Accounts Committee Mallikarjun Kharge; Former Deputy Prime Minister and Chairperson, Ethics Committee (Lok Sabha), L. K. Advani; Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Members of Parliament and former Members of Parliament paid tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Secretaries-General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Snehlata Shrivastava and Shri Desh Deepak Verma, respectively also paid floral tributes.

A booklet containing the profile of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, brought out in Hindi and English by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was presented to the dignitaries.

The portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was unveiled by the then President of India, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, in the Central Hall of Parliament House on 5 May 1966.
