The Madras High Court upheld the decision of the Tamil Nadu Assembly speaker P. Dhanapal who disqualified 18 MLAs.
The judgement was delivered in the case filed by the dissident MLAs of TTV Dinakaran group against the speaker’s decision on the grounds of anti defection.
The case was referred to the third judge Justice appointed by the Supreme Court after a divided judgement by the first bench of the High Court on 14 June.
Today’s order also vacated the interim order issued during the split verdict restraining the Election Commission from holding byelections to the 18 seats
