Senior journalist and BJP leader M J Akbar today resigned from his post of Minister of State External Affairs MEA.
In a statement before resignation Akbar said: “since I have decided to seek justice in a court of law in my personal capacity, I deem it appropriate to step down from office and challenge false accusations levied against me, also in a personal capacity.”
“ I am grateful to the prime minister Shri Narendra Modi and to the External affairs Smt Sushma Swaraj for the opportunity they gave me to serve the my country”, he added in the statement.
Akbar has been embroiled in the allegation of sexual harassment by his former media colleagues through #Me Too campaign. He has already filed a case of defamation against one of the lady who accused him of sexual harassament..
