Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal today held an all party meeting in Guwahati, ahead of the publication of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) draft. The NRC draft will be published tomorrow.
During the meeting, political parties assured the state government of extending cooperation in the NRC updation process. The NRC of 1951 is being d in Assam under the supervision of the Supreme Court, to detect illegal immigrants.
Talking to media after the all-party meeting, Chief Minister assured that opportunities will be given to file claims and objections if someone’s name does not appear in the draft.
