Sixty eight, 68 HIV positive children have been admitted to private schools for the current academic session under Right to Education (RTE) act.
With this Madhya Pradesh has become the first state to implement landmark decision of Supreme Court in which Court had asked all state to include HIV positive kids in disadvantaged category regardless financial background and give them RTE benefits.
According to MP Rajya Shiksha Kendra officials, all kids living with or infected by HIV in Madhya Pradesh are now entitled for special protection and facilities under Right to education.
The Shiksha Kendra will soon issue a circular which bar schools from discriminating against HIV positive children in any condition. Apart from HIV positive, one lakh 50 thousand underprivileged children including 67 orphaned children and 175 Divyang have also getting an opportunity to study in such schools which they could not even think about in their dreams.
