The Centre has sanctioned nearly 400 crore rupees as additional assistance to states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland that were affected by natural calamities during 2017-18.

The decision was taken at a meeting of a high-level committee chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi yesterday.

The committee approved about 180 crore rupees from National Disaster Response Fund to Andhra Pradesh. Of the amount, 67 crore has been given for floods and 113 crore rupees has been sanctioned for drought in the rabi season last year.

One fourty four crore rupees has been approved for Arunachal Pradesh and 65 crore rupees for Nagaland. Both states were hit by floods and landslides last year.
