Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra reached Srinagar today to take review of the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley.
Defence spokesman told media that Mr Mitra visited forward areas along the Line of Control where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation and also interacted with the commanders and troops on ground.
The Defence Secretary also visited Army’s 15 Corps, also called Chinar Corps Headquarters at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar where he was briefed by Corps Commander Lt Gen AK Bhatt about the Counter Infiltration and Counter Militant Grids functional in the Valley.
He was also briefed about the close coordination amongst all the government agencies in maintaining peace in the region.
Mr Mitra appreciated the various measures instituted to strengthen the security posture and the good job being done by all the Security Forces agencies.
