Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today arrived in New Delhi on a six-day visit to India. He was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Palam airport. Later, Mr Modi in a tweet message, welcomed Mr Netanyahu to India. He said, Mr Netanyahu’s visit to India is a special historic and will strengthen the close ties between the two countries.
Mr Modi and Mr Netanyahu also visited Teen Murti Chowk for a solemn ceremony at the Teen Murti Memorial and paid homage to Indian soldiers who sacrifice their life to liberate Haifa in 1918. The ceremony marked the formal renaming of Teen Murti Chowk as the Teen Murti Haifa Chowk. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will call on the visiting dignitary in a short while.
Tomorrow, Mr Netanyahu will hold delegation-level talks with Mr Modi. The External Affairs Ministry said, several MoUs are expected to be signed in different areas after the talks. The Israeli Prime Minister will also call on President Ram Nath Kovind tomorrow.
