rupaniVijay Rupani will continue as Chief Minister of Gujarat, while Nitin Patel will retain the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Union Minister and Central Observer Arun Jaitley made this announcement today after the meeting of all the newly-elected BJP MLAs at party headquarters in Gandhinagar.

Central observers Jaitley and BJP general secretary Saroj Pandey attended the meeting.

Talking to media, Mr Jaitley said that Mr. Rupani was unanimously elected as the BJP legislature party leader while Mr Patel was selected as deputy leader of the legislature by all the elected MLAs. He said since there was no alternative suggested by elected MLAs, the proposal put forward by BJP leader Bhupendrasinh Chudasama was supported by everyone.

He said the decision regarding the selection of cabinet will be done by newly elected CM in consultation with senior party leaders in due course of time. Mr Jaitley also informed that the date of the swear-in ceremony of the new government will be announced soon.

Addressing a Press Conference in Gandhinagar, Mr Rupani expressed government’s commitment towards development promised by BJP in the state and said his government will take everyone forward.
