Rajya Sabha was adjourned till Wednesday ( 27th Decemeber), as soon as the House met for the day, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad and other leaders suggested adjournment of the House till 2.30 PM today to enable leaders to find the ways to end the ongoing deadlock over the remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against his predecessor Dr. Manmohan Singh during Gujarat election campaign.
Responding to this, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Vijay Goel said, two meetings were already held and discussions are continuing to solve the issue. He appealed to opposition to allow the House to run smoothly.
Before adjourning the House, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said the House should continue with its slated business and wanted to take up Zero Hour mentions. However, later he adjourned the House till Wednesday.
The Lok Sabha has taken up Question Hour amidst sloganeering by Congress members who continue to demand a clarification by Prime Minister Modi on his remarks against Dr. Singh.
MEANWHIE Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu held meeting with senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel in an attempt to end the deadlock in the Upper House.
After the adjournment of the House till Wednesday, Mr. Naidu spoke to them separately and together in his chamber.
He stressed that the House needs to resume normal functioning from 27th of this month.
Sources said, Mr Naidu suggested the Leader of House, Arun Jaitley and Leader of opposition Mr Azad may further discuss to resolve the stalemate.
