At least nine were killed and 21 other injured when bus carrying them fell down in Parvati River near Sarsari on Kullu-Manikaran highway in Himachal Pradesh yesterday. 21 injured have been admitted in the Regional hospital Kullu where some of them are stated to be serious.
The bus bearing Punjab registration number was carrying more than 50 pilgrims. Most of victims were from Barnala, Bhatinda and Mansadevi area of Punjab who was on their way to Manikaran. The district authorities reached the spot and begin rescue operation with the help of SSB and ITBP personnel.
Several people feared to be washed away in the swollen water of the River. Therefore an alert has been sounded up to Pandoh Dam to search the other people. The wreckage of bus is still submerged in the Parvati River.
