At least 87 people were killed and over 40 others injured in Israeli strikes in the city of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. The strip’s Hamas-run authorities said the death toll may rise as rescue operations are underway.

Israel has said it’s checking reports of casualties and accused Palestinian group Hamas of sharing exaggerated figures.
Meanwhile in Lebanon, Israel also resumed air strikes on strongholds of armed group Hezbollah in Beirut’s southern suburbs, with residents in Haret Hreik and Hadath ordered to evacuate earlier today.

The latest attacks come after a drone was launched towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home at Caesarea in northern Israel while he wasn’t there.

The United Nations has called for more aid routes to open into Gaza, saying it’s unable to run its humanitarian operation at the scale needed. Israel had previously said it was targeting Hamas operatives in the north and not stopping the entry of humanitarian aid.
