Union minister for Power R K Singh today said the government was committed to ensure electricity to every household in the country and connections are being given to BPL houses. Speaking to media here, Mr Singh said 82 per cent households have been electrified in the country.
He said the present government has re-electrified 90 thousand villages. The minister said electrification in Uttar Pradesh is a major challenge but his ministry is trying its best to ensure complete electrification.
On a query, Mr Singh said, the Centre is working jointly with the states to ensure round-the-clock electricity supply. He said, efforts are being made in this direction.
Asked about Congress’ attack on government regarding its achievement that, now, every single village has electricity, Mr Singh said, Congress is not aware of the system and the party is speaking without proper information.
