naddaGovernment of India today informed that five lakh people die of cancer in India annually. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Health Minister J P Nadda said that government planned to set up 20 cancer institutes and 50 tertiary care centres in the country.

Men usually suffer from throat and stomach cancer and women from breast, cervix and uterus cancer. He said under the scheme, 47 proposals have been received from 26 States and Union Territories. Of these, 14 proposals from 13 states have been approved and funds released.
