At least five persons have lost their lives and more than twelve others are being treated in hospitals due to consuming hooch in Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh, . According to sources about twenty people consumed country made liquor yesterday. After having liquor they fell ill.One person died yesterday while four others lost their lives in Kanpur district hospital today.
District magistrate of Unnao ,Mrs Saumya Agarwal,however confirmed only four deaths so far and claimed that only three people are in Hospitals . She said that strict action is being taken against the culprits. She said that one person has been arrested so far .
Additional Superintendent of Police R.K.Yadav said that seven police personnel including station in charge of Sadar Kotwali ,two sub inspectors and four constables have been suspended for negligence in their duties. Meanwhile, the Uttar pradesh government also transferred the District Superintendent of Police .
The State Government also suspended district Excise officer and a Excise inspector of the department in Unnao district . The district magistrate told AIR that some more officials of excise department will face action and their names have already been recommended for suspensions. Police have registered FIR and further investigations are on .
