The Supreme Court Wednesday awarded rigorous life imprisonment to Pak national and Hizbul Mujahideen militant Ghulam Nabi in a case relating to 1995 serial blasts at Republic Day function in Jammu. The apex court’s judgment was made on an appeal of the Jammu and Kashmir Government against a trial court’s decision, which had earlier acquitted Nabi.
Three bomb explosions had taken place at the Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium in Jammu aimed to kill then Governor General K.V. Krishna Rao while he was addressing on the occasion of Republic Day in 1995. Mr Rao had a narrow escape but eight people were killed in the blasts.
