Three unidentified militants were killed in an ongoing anti militancy operation in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Defence spokesman Col N N Joshi told official media that army and Special Operations Group of State Police launched cordon and search operation in Dobwan forest area in Khurhama Lolab today morning.
As the operation was intensified, the militants hiding inside the forest area opened fire and tried to break the cordon laid by the forces. In the ensuing gunfight, three militants were killed.
Three AK-47 rifles and arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. Sources said the militant group intercepted were likely the part of heavily armed group that may have infiltrated in the area.
