Police in Bangladesh today arrested two activists of the banned militant outfit Jamat-atul Bangladesh (JMB) and one activist of the Jamaat-e-Islami Student Wing for alleged involvement in the killing of a Hindu temple priest. The 50-year old priest, who headed the Santo Haurio temple in northwestern Panchgarh, was killed and 2 others injured yesterday.

US-based SITE Intelligence Group said the IS has claimed responsibility for the crime, but police have said the radical Middle East-based group have no presence in Bangladesh. IS had however claimed responsibility for the murder of 2 foreigners in September last year as well as for bomb attacks on Shias in old Dhaka in October, 2015.
