Amid high drama,the first sitting of the 6th session the Arunachal Legislative Assembly was conducted at at a makeshift venue Techi Takar Community Hall, a kilometer away from the State Assembly Hall. Deputy Speaker TN Thondok presided over the house. A resolution on the removal of Speaker Nabam Rebia was passed unanimously by 33 MLAs by a signature voting.

The house was chaired by Deputy Speaker, TN Thodok and was attended by 11 Members from BJP, 2 Independent and 21 from the Congress party, including the 14 disqualified MLAs whose disqualifications were quashed by the Deputy Speaker. 27 members of the House, including the Chief Minister, his ministerial colleagues and 16 Congress MLAs abstained from the proceedings.

Arunachal Pradesh has a 60-member Assembly. Speaker Nabam Rebia has called the whole process illegal and unconstitutional. Earlier today the Speaker by an order had sealed the gate of the Assembly and no one, including the MLAs, was allowed to enter the Assembly premises. As a result of which the Deputy Speaker had shifted the venue to a new place.
