Justice (retd) Shiv Narayan Dhingra of the Delhi High Court will head the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will re-investigate 186 cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Within two months from today,the SIT will file an first interim report to the Supreme Court.
An apex court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, passed the order on Thursday.
