Noida: The Association for Sports and Cultural Advancement (SSCA) has announced an annual inter-school cross-country championship on National Sports Day. This time the championship will be held on August 31 at the Noida Stadium. Teams from any school in Delhi-NCR can participate in this competition. Entry of individual players will not be accepted. This information was given by the president of the society, Subhash Agarwal.
The speaker said that a special general meeting of the society was called to discuss various issues at the SSCA Public Library running at the Nithari Community Centre. In which the date of the 15th Major Dhyan Chand Inter School Cross Country Championship was also discussed. Since Raksha Bandhan on August 28 (Friday) and August 29 (Saturday) will be holidays in schools this time. Therefore, all members unanimously set the date of August 31 for the competition.
Ashok Saini, vice president and sports in-charge of the organisation, said that the competition will be held in both boys and girls categories. There will be a race of about 4 km for boys and 2 km for girls. The top 10-10 players in both categories will be honoured by giving special certificates and medals. While the top 3-3 schools will be given the winner trophy. Apart from this, cash prizes will also be given to 1-1 champion players who come in the first position in both categories.
Vimalesh Sharma, convener and founding member of the society, said that the organisation has been working continuously for the last 15 years to promote sports activities in the city. Inter School Cross Country Champion is organised at Noida Stadium on National Sports Day, Inter School Drawing Competition on 3rd December on National Disay and Inter School Folk Dance Competition (Noida Basant Festival) in the first week of February on Basant Panchami.
He said that all these competitions are completely free, in which all children are honoured by giving certificates, snacks and trophies to participate. Founder members of the organisation Professor MMA Baig, Santosh Sharma, Treasurer Narendra Kuchhal, Secretary Devendra Kumar and Member Dr. Nimesh Kumar were also present on the occasion
