With nine more deaths, the number of total Indian Haj pilgrims died due to Friday’s Grand Mosque crane collapse in Makkah has gone up to 11. 19 others injured are getting treatment in different hospitals.
India’s External Affairs Ministry has now confirmed death of eleven Indian Haj pilgrims.
Earlier, the Ministry had informed about death of two Indians, one from West Bengal and the other from Kerala.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, government is making every effort to locate the missing Indians and extending all necessary help to the families of the eleven deceased pilgrims in order to complete formalities in Mecca.
Mr Swarup said, among the injured are three each from Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, two each from Delhi and West Bengal, and one each from Punjab, Bihar and Assam.
The incident, which occurred ahead of the annual Haj pilgrimage, has claimed 115 lives so far.
