At least 10 people were killed and 23 others have been injured in a major fire incident in a hotel in Pratapgarh District of Uttar Pradesh. The District Superintendent of Police Mr B. S.Yadav said that 10 people including two women died in the incident. 23 others are injured. At least 9 people are in critical condition and they have been shifted to S.R.N hospital in Allahabad for further treatment. People injured with minor injuries are being treated in Pratapgarh district hospital.
The Superintendent of police said fire broke out in early morning hours in Goyal Residency hotel its adjoining restaurant Aryan in Kotwali police station area of Pratapgarh.
He said that within hour fire tenders managed to control the fire. According to reports most of the death occurred due to smoke which suffocated occupants of hotel rooms. Police said that when the fire broke out some of the occupants were sleeping and couldn’t responded in time. He said that bodies are sent for post mortem and identification of dead bodies are being carried out. According to police the hotel owner and two others have been arrested for interrogation. Further investigations are on this incident.
