In Manipur, ten candidates have so far filed nominations for the by-elections. In all, five Assembly constituencies will go for by-polls on 7th of November. Some more candidates are expected to file nominations today being the last day for filing of nominations.
In Wangoi Assembly Constituency, three candidates have so far filed their nominations. Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh will be contesting on BJP ticket, while Congress and NPP candidates have also filed their nominations.
In Wangjing Tentha, two candidates – Congress and Independent have so far filed their nominations. BJP is expected to file nomination today. In Lilong, Former Minister Abdul Nasir filed his nomination as Independent candidate.
In the hill district of Kangpokpi, both BJP and Congress have put up their respective candidates in Saitu Assembly Constituency. In Singngat, BJP and one Independent candidate have so far filed their nominations.
