Four foreigners have reportedly tested positive for coronavirus at Gaya airport in Bihar ahead of Dalai Lama’s event on December 29 in Bodh Gaya.

The foreigners who tested Covid positive include three from England and one from Myanmar.

Foreigners have been placed under isolation. According to a Gaya Civil Surgeon, Ranjan Kumar Singh, “They are asymptomatic and have been placed under isolation.”

A total of 33 foreigners were subjected to the RTPCR test in which four of them tested positive for Covid. All 33 passengers had arrived at Gaya airport from Bangkok on December 20. The three England residents have been in home isolation at a hotel in Bodh Gaya while a resident of Myanmar has left for Delhi.

The foreigners tested positive three days before Tibetan spiritual Buddhist leader Dalai Lama’s event in Bodh Gaya from December 29 to December 31. More than a lakh foreign devotees are expected to participate in the gathering.
