Winter session of parliament began today amid the uproar. Lok Sabha witnessed sloganeering during the Question Hour seeking the release of detained Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah.
Opposition MPs continued raising slogans protesting against the lack of stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
MPs from the Congress, National Conference and the DMK protested in the well of the House against the instability in the Valley more than 100 days after the abrogation of Article 370.
The session opened with obituary references to the departed leaders — former Union ministers Arun Jaitley and Ram Jethmalani — and former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Jagannath Mishra and Gurudas das Gupta . Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha paid rich tribute to the departed leaders
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an address before the session started, said the government wants frank discussions on all matters. “It is important that there should be quality debates, there should be dialogues and discussions, everyone should contribute to enrich the discussions in the Parliament,” he said.
As soon as the House met for the day, Prince Raj from the Samastipur Parliamentary constituency in Bihar, Himadri Singh from Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh, Shriniwas Dadasaheb Patil from Satara in Maharashtra and D M Kathir Anand from Vellore in Tamil Nadu took oath in the Lok Sabha.
