AMN / LONDON / ISLAMABAD

Begun Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, passed away in a London hospital on Tuesday after prolong illness

She was suffering from cancer and was under treatment for the past several months at London’s Harley Street Clinic.

Begum Kulsoom was diagnosed with lymphoma (throat) cancer in August 2017. She has undergone several sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

She was feeling better for the last month but was shifted to the hospital last night in emergency and put on ventilator again, her son Hussain Nawaz said.

Family sources confirm that she will be laid to rest in Pakistan after family gets death certificate from the hospital and then the coroner will issue ‘out of England’ order.

Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are serving jail term in Adiala. Both of them were in London to see her when they were convicted of corruption in Avenfield reference on July 06.

She remained unconscious all the time and unfortunately they returned to Pakistan without speaking to her.
