Vishwesh Chaubey, General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata took over as General Manager, Northern Railway, New Delhi today succeeding R.K.Kulshrestha who will resume as General Manager, Southern Railway, Chennai.
An IRSE officer of 1980 batch, Chaubey has held several prominent positions on the Indian Railways and his career is marked with several noteworthy distinctions. He holds B. Tech (Civil) degree from Institute of Technology, BHU and M.Tech. (Structures) from IIT, Delhi. Prior to the position as General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata, Chaubey was the Principal Chief Engineer, South Eastern Railway and up gradation of rail-road and allied areas.
In the northern zone, Chaubey held key posts, namely, Chief Track Engineer (CTE), Northern Railway and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Firozpur. As DRM/
He has also worked in RDSO as Joint Director wherein he provided technical guidance to Railways for strengthening the existing MG bridges for carrying BG trains for speedy implementation of the uni-gauge policy of Railways. He has many reports to his credit, suggesting methodologies for the strengthening of weak railway formation. He has worked in various divisions of Western, West Central, East Central and North Eastern Railways.
Meanwhile, new time table for northern railway will come into effect from Wednesday, november1. some of its salient features include introducing of six new pairs of trains including Tejas, Humsafars and Antoyday, speed of 65 trains to be enhanced while nine pairs of trains have been upgraded as superfast trains.
