Virat Kohli today announced his decision to step down as India’s Test skipper. In a statement, he thanked BCCI and MS Dhoni for the opportunity.
Kohli wrote, “I have always believed in giving my 120 percent in everything I do, and if I can’t do that, I know it’s not the right thing to do. I have absolute clarity in my heart and I cannot be dishonest to my team.” Virat Kohli has led India in 68 matches and has been the most successful captain with 40 wins.
Kohli replaced MS Dhoni as the captain of Indian team and became the most successful Test captain with 40 wins in 68 matches. Under his dynamic captaincy India became a formidable force and dominated every team at home. He became the first-ever Asian captain to win a Test series in Australia.
The former skipper thanked BCCI, former head coach Ravi Shastri and MS Dhoni in his statement on social media.
Meanwhile the BCCI thanked Virat Kohli for his admirable leadership qualities that took the Test team to unprecedented heights.
