Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has termed the news reports that government is imposing Hindi as false.
In a statement, Mr Naidu clarified that the Central government has no intention of imposing any language upon anyone. He said, Parliamentary Committee on Official Language headed by then Home Minister P Chidambaram made a recommendation for use of Hindi by all those occupying high political offices and forwarded it to the President on 2nd of June, 2011.
He said, the present NDA government has only notified this recommendation on 31st of last month. He said, it is false and mischievous that an ordinance was passed in this regard. He said, it may be recalled that DMK was a member of the UPA government in 2011 when this recommendation was made and forwarded to the President.
The statement came in the backdrop of media reports quoting DMK leader M K Stalin alleging imposition of Hindi by the Central government on MPs and Union Ministers who know Hindi.
