Dalit student of Hyderabad University commits suicide

Classes for the Post-Graduation courses in the Hyderabad Central University resumed today on a peaceful note after a gap of 15 days . Students’ Joint Action Committee agreed to allow classes during marathon talks held by acting Vice Chancellor Periasamy last evening. However, the students said their agitation for Justice to Rohith will continue after classes during evenings.

The JAC also said the relay hunger strike by students will continue to stress on their demands. Meanwhile, three students who were on hunger strike have been admitted in hospital.
The University students have been protesting over research scholar Rohith Vemula’s Suicide demanding removal of the Vice Chancellor and action against those who were responsible for the incident.

Classes for research scholars and laboratory classes were commenced four days ago. Government has appointed a Judicial Commission headed by Justice Ashok K.Poopanwal to look into the whole issue.
