After the Model Code of Conduct came into force in Punjab for Assembly elections, various enforcement teams have seized valuables worth 100 crore rupees in violation of code till January 28. Giving details, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr S Karuna Raju said that the surveillance teams have seized 17.61 lakh litres of liquor worth 7.43 crore rupees. He said, similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered psychotropic substances amounting to 74.64 crore rupees besides confiscating unaccounted cash of 16.73 crore rupees.

The Chief Electoral Officer revealed that as many as 1176 vulnerable hamlets have been identified. Besides this, 2727 people have been identified as probable sources of trouble. The CEO said that out of these identified persons, preventive action had already been initiated against 1808 people while the remaining would also be brought to book. He also informed that from a security point of view 621 persons have been bound down under preventive sections of CrPC Act.

He informed that as many as 2564 cases of non-bailable warrants have been executed, while execution in 106 cases is under process.

Dr Raju said that of total 3 lakh 90 thousand 275 licensed weapons in the state 3 lakh 75 thousand 548 weapons have been deposited till date. Whereas, 61 without licenses weapons were seized in the state.
