Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will be on a two-day visit to India from today. He will be accompanied by a High-Level Delegation. This will be the first visit of President Mirziyoyev to India.
On Monday, the visiting dignitary will be paid a Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan after which he will visit Raj Ghat and pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
Mr Mirziyoyev will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have Delegation level talks at the Hyderabad House. He will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has said the visit of the President of Uzbekistan should be a transformative landmark visit and that it will mark a new chapter in Indo-Uzbek relations.
Mr Prabhu said India is conceptualising a transport corridor which can be a very important link between Asia and Europe, for which Uzbekistan can serve as a major transit point.
