In the hilly districts of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand, 575 forest fire incidents have affected approximately 689.89 hectares of land. Kumaon Mandal has seen the highest number of incidents, totalling 313. These fires have resulted in an economic loss of 14 lakh 41 thousand 771 rupees to the forest wealth, as reported by the State Fire and Disaster Management. Meanwhile, to combat the blaze in Nainital’s forests, the Indian Air Force’s MI-17 helicopter is assisting, drawing water from Bhimtal Lake. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has assured that efforts are underway to control the fire in Nainital district.

 Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhammi will also hold a review meeting with senior officials regarding forest fire prevention at Haldwani in Nainital this evening.
