In Uttar Pradesh, peak of Magh Mela is being observed on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya in Prayagraj today. A large number of devotees are taking holy dip at the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati -Sangam along with confluences of many other rivers and ponds at several places in state.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has greeted people on this occasion. The devotees had reached previous night itself at Sangam to take Holy Dip at earliest. No sooner it clocked 12 at mid- night, a sea of devotees thronged for bathing. Whole the the atmosphere is reverberating with ‘Har Har Gange’ and enchanting Bhajans and Kirtans since previous midnight.
In Hindu Mythology, it is believed among people that Maun bathing and offering things and money on the ocassion of Mauni Amavasya provides Punya. At several places Bhandaras have been organised by devotees where Prasad is being distributed.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to control the the crowd and maintain COVID-19 protocol at Sangam and other places in state. The flowers showering on the devotees at Sangam was also made by Helicopters in sky on this occasion. The devotees also throng Ghats in Varanasi to take a holy dip in Ganga river. The bathing is also taking place at GarhMukteshwar in Hapur, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Mathura,Farrukhabad including other places.
